What is liga betplay?

Liga Betplay is the top professional football league in Colombia, previously known as Categoría Primera A. It was established in 1948 and is organized by Dimayor (División Mayor del Fútbol Profesional Colombiano). The league consists of 20 teams who compete in a round-robin tournament over two separate seasons – the Apertura (opening) and Clausura (closing) tournaments.

The league has a promotion and relegation system where the bottom-placed team is relegated to the Categoría Primera B, while the top team in the Primera B is promoted to the Liga Betplay. The league has produced successful clubs such as Atlético Nacional, Independiente Santa Fe, and América de Cali.
